The National Farmers’ Union (NFU) East Midlands has warned farmers to be on the lookout for scam emails from people claiming to be inspectors from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
The email claims that Covid-19 inspectors from the HSE are about to visit the email recipient’s farm to perform a spot-check inspection that the premises is abiding by the Covid-19 measures put in place by the government.
However, NFU East Midlands has urged farmers to be wary of this scam email, as the HSE will never send emails regarding business inspections and will instead call the relevant person.

They have advised people not to click any links that are contained in the email and to instead follow the guidance set out by the HSE when it comes to farm inspections.
The HSE confirmed that officers that visit premises will be carrying identification from their business and a letter of authorisation from the HSE.
They also said that if you wish to verify an officer that calls or visits your organisation, please call 0300 790 6896.
If you receive a call or visit from the HSE, you should participate in the spot check, as failure to do so could lead to enforcement action.
