Hi everyone,
I was wondering where everyone has been planning to buy their grant items from? We are looking at the Tru Test Ezi Weigh 7i as well as the XRS2 Stick reader, I've seen both items on Massey Harpers Country Supplies https://farmersdirect.co.uk/the-farming-equipment-and-technology. Weigh head for £850 and the stick reader for £897, I have contacted them and they seem to have a good range of grant eligible items in stock but are there any other online suppliers which are offering a better price that anyone knows of as I can’t seem to find any?

on there the 7i weighhead looks competitive i doubt you'll get a much better price but tbh i didnt think that that model would be eligible for grant because will run an autodrafter ? or is it just 'visual on the screen ' drafting ? for sheep anyway...

FETF78Individual Electronic Weigh System (all species)Digital weighing device with the ability to record and display on screen individual animals’ weights, track the live weight gains and access recorded information on an individual animal, for example, breeding and movements. If the electronic weighing system relies on a mobile device to input, access and record this information the mobile device must be purchased as part of this Item. Must have the functionality to operate with EID readers and operate auto drafting systems. It must also have the ability to be connected to a computer or mobile device to download collected information. Weigh bars are not included in this item they are a separate item - see FETF79 ‘Weigh bars and weigh platforms for weighing livestock’ and FETF80 ‘Weigh bars or platform for animals less than 300 kg’. Group and automatic average animal weighing systems are not eligible under this item.

No thanks all the same, have managed to get a good quote for all of it from a local company.
Loyalty for what's around you is good i reckon, they were also, just as importantly able to advise accurately on what they were selling (y)

All 4 Agrident readers link to the Eziweigh7i. we have all 4 in stock and all 4 allow on reader recording for sheep management. All new Agrident readers link to all Trutest scales, including the low cost S3.

Its not my specialist subject either , i just dont want to spend money on the wrong (ineligible) weighead.
Having a problem at the moment with my claim, i opted for an electronic weigher system, i also included a sheep grip in my claim. When i ordered from wynnstay, i got sent the sheep grip along with weigh bars that fit inside a frame along with the electronic weigher that mounts on the top. I was expecting a crate but this does the job just the same. They are now rejecting my claim because its not a crate, but this is what wynnstay sent me and it was just as expensive.

So, you should have a Combi clamp AND a crate? Wasn’t the grip and crate under different codes? Double check your claim form. We had weigh cells on the combi clamp and the weigh crate.

Yes that will be 2 different items.

The grants are looking futile now what with fuel prices / inflation and availability problems.i should think several grants awarded wont be used because the winners of those grants cant now afford them ,especially smaller outfits with less relative resources and those again are ironically the ones who would benefit most i guess.

It's been mentioned before on here about added stress, basically over paid for equipment that I won't get any help for, won't get caught out again with these dangling carrots of promises. You get the impression when dealing with RPA etc that they love catching you out, there is no common sense applied, your either right or wrong.

Have you sent the serial number as well? They love finding problem's, I've been bouncing emails for the last 2 months with issues, never again will I be lured into these grants, too much stress involved.

Keep looking at these grants, it does seem a bit of a lottery and looks a bit counter productive as you seem to have to pay full manufacturers pricelist price with no dealer discount now .

Basically the one of the items i had was a sheep race, you have to have the top spec model, when the cheaper 6k race would of done me ok. You have to find all the money up front which was just under 10k for the pro, i paid for it last March and still waiting for the grant money to arrive.
The other items i added was a sheep grip and electronic weigher, which i have had problems with because i added a crate to the list and should of added weigh bars instead, after several emails and phone calls, i think its now sorted. What the RPA needs to understand is a lot of us are farmers and not computer whizz kids, we will make mistakes, but it should,t cost you £s of pounds.
