WEEKEND WEATHER FORECAST
==========================
Issued: 0900hrs, Friday 26th March 2021
SATURDAY
=========
A weak ridge of high pressure builds on Saturday morning. The west to southwest flow is going to become increasingly moist and so cloud will be increasing through the day. This cloud may bring some drizzle to western and southern coasts with low cloud shrouding hills here. Best of the conditions are likely to be inland and during the earlier part of the day.
More persistent rain arrives in Ireland as the warm front to the west moves eastwards. Winds increasing here too.
Winds W-SW 18-25kt (F5-F6) becoming 15-20kt (F4-F5) for a time, then increasing SW 18-25kt (F5-F6) in the west and SW 25-30kt (F6-F7) in Ireland later.
SUNDAY
=========
A moist, strong southwest airflow covers the country through Sunday. A series of fronts trail through northern England, southern Scotland and Ireland.
There will be lots of cloud and periods of rain through Ireland, northern Wales and northern England as well as central and western Scotland.
Plenty of low cloud and drizzle over western and southern coasts of England and Wales too.
Some sunny spells developing in Eastern Scotland, and perhaps a few brighter spells eastern England too.
Gales may affect western and northern areas.
Winds SW 30-35kt (F7-F8) but 35-40kt (F8-F9) in the west. Stronger gusts are likely especially in England and Wales.
MONDAY
=======
The southwesterly flow continues to affect all parts of the UK through Monday. High pressure is to the south with low pressure to the north.
Fronts extend through southern Scotland, northern England and Ireland. Cloud and outbreaks of rain together with low cloud here. Some drizzle and low cloud affecting western coasts of Wales and southern coasts of England.
It is going to be mostly fair in central and eastern England, although rather windy. Better for northern Scotland with sunny spells and lighter winds here.
Winds SW 25kt (F6) but gusting 35-40kt (F8). Nearer SW 15kt (F4) in central and northern Scotland.
