Feed Blends - Positives and Negatives

I was contemplating switching to the dark wheat grains - it has a better constitution so doesn't break up/become as mealy... but the ewes are hoovering it up, and with a little help it's running through the snacker pretty well.

I'm only using rolled barley because we buy it for the cattle, and have nowhere to store anything else.

interesting , we buy WD from KW , bristol depot is quite mealy dark wouldt feed that through snacker , but salisbury is good light pellet and fairly solid after complaints from one of their customers , lighter pellets are better feed value im told due to less heat in production , very under estimated feed , Have to say KW is a brilliant company to deal with if you have one close , will do any blend from 2t upwards , and all staff are very helpful and friendly to deal with

Ours comes from Trident Feeds, through Solway Agriculture. Not sure where the feeds actually come from though... but definitely the Wheat grains keep their shape better and don't break up (we have used them in the past). IMO the Maize Grains are a better feed and not much beats it in my eyes, but there will probably be very little between them really.

Was on another thread but cant find it. Someone put up a feed ration calculator link, where I guess you put in analysis and eights of ingredients and it works out overall analysis? Does anyone remember this?

I used to work on the farm that does the Atherstone depot (East of Birmingham)
We just supplied the shed, equipment and labour and did the mixing. Great company to deal with and from what I remember were a great deal cheaper than the ones pelleting..
This was back in 2007/2008 but I know their a lot busier now than what it was back then!
