My thoughts too but mention it around hear and all you get is a lot of sucking in air and ohhhh I wouldn’t be feeding that yet. They all say it but none of them have given me an answer yet when I ask them why not
I don't know the answer as whether feeding new hay is a good idea or not, but perhaps you should ask whoever bought the hay that was baled on 40 acres I rented out this year rather than make it myself - as I'd finished making my own hay I volunteered to row it up for the baling contractor yesterday afternoon, it was all baled by evening, and this morning its on a lorry to Devon to feed dairy cows..........they obviously aren't worried about feeding newly made hay.
Unrolling hay bales made fortnight ago, getting bit desperate by coast....about a three weeks ahead of inland farming as too drought effects. Special measures too date include lambs prematurely weaned a month ago and grazing in field of oats; cows stripgrazing fat hen in stalled turnip/rape field; creep caking calves 2 months early than normal. Fences being severely tested by hungry cows and mvf stakes snapping ground level on 6 year old fence.
