Fendt favorit 515c fault code

Hi all,
I have a fendt favorit 515c and it's showing fault code 4.1.06, which in the operating manual says the forwards solenoid y6, I've checked solenoids and they're good.
When I start the tractor with toggle switch in reverse it engages reverse drive but when I switch to forward drive the fault code comes on dash and tractor is locked in forward drive and if I start in forward drive it locks in forwards and no reverse is possible. When I hit the emergency operation switch then both directions of travel is possible .
I have also plugged in the forwards reverse switch which is in with ebox 1 and 2 and this engages both forwards and reverse solenoid, which would mean that wiring isn't at fault.
Has anyone had this issue with fault code 4.1.06 and if so how was it repaired, I'm hoping it's not a problem in the ebox and might be an easy fix .
If anyone has any info it would be greatly appreciated

I seem to recall the gearbox in the 515c is the 4 speed powershift ZF7200?

(Deutz fitted the same gearbox until the introduction of the current 6 series a few years ago, though with a clutch instead of fendt's torque converter)

@98 fendt 515c in addition to testing the solenoids, have you taken the cover off the valve chest and actually had a look? There are horseshoe clips on the solenoids that break. It'll still engage gear, but throws error codes

Hi DrDunc
I've lifted cover and both solenoids are snug and clamped with the clips, if I switch wire from the forwards solenoid to the reverse solenoid and vise versa, reverse switching engages forward drive so solenoids are good,
Any other ideas

The valves are not proportional, therefore solenoid error should only be caused by either short or open circuit. I don't understand why you can engage forward with error, but then not engage reverse?

Also I'm unfamiliar with the "emergency switch" that permits both forward and reverse to be engaged. How does this permit the toggle switch to engage both directions of travel? What does it bypass within the ecu (ebox)?

With solenoid wiring reversed, when toggle switch reverse direction engaged, does it drive forwards without error? (and vice versa?)

Apologies for questions, trying to understand what is happening because it seems strange! Trying to think of ways to rule out fault in the ecu (ebox)

I presume like deutz, there is a separate error code for system pressure too low? (if the forward clutch pack is worn?)

Hi Doc,
I can engage f/r with error but only by using the emergency switch which allows you to switch from F to R but only if main gear lever in neutral and clutch pedal pressed, it's basically a limp mode to get you back to the workshop so it obviously bypasses certain inputs /outputs in the ecu.
To answer your question on wiring reversed, it will drive forward when toggle switch reverse selection is engaged first but if forward selection engaged fault comes up.
The tractor doesn't have to be started for fault to appear, just with ignition to on , it happens which would likely rule out any mechanical issues such as clutch pack.
I have wiring diagram attached which shows F/R driving circuit, all solenoids in this circuit are good, I've switched around hall sensors and made no difference, which tells me they are good and all fuses on the motherboard - ebox2 are also good.
All drawings are in German so I've included a list of the translation of each item.
I appreciate your interest in this problem

Fault alert with tractor off ignition on suggests problem must wiring or a component of forward direction

I think you have tested all the components, therefore fault must be wiring? Ebox1 pin 1supplies to hall sensors, clutch position, toggle switch and emergency switch. I think error with ignition on but engine off indicates power supply is good, but feedback to ebox1 is faulty

Forward/reverse solenoids wired differently to the ebox. Have you tested continuity(test for short or break in wire) in two connection wires between LKE and forward solenoid plug? Also wires from pins 50&51 from ebox1 to connector LKE for forward solenoid?

Pin 1 in Ebox 1 is analogue earth for sensors etc. I have checked all wires to solenoids with multimeter, not picking up any short circuit to other wires within the same loom , and getting full continuity.

It's getting difficult!

My only thought would be toggle switch? With toggle switch disconnected from the loom and ignition switched on, do you still get error? Can you then bridge wire the forward direction connection to determine if there is a fault within toggle switch?

It's definitely a tricky one alright.I thought initially that it might be the toggle switch and replaced it with a new one which didn't cure my problem. The toggle switch has a different fault code of its own . I'm beginning to think it must be in the e-box unless there's any other ideas of what to check for.
