Iv had sisu engines and they were quite thirsty, i also drove a mf 6s180 recently and it wouldnt of pull your cap off, struggling to get to 50k on a bit of a hill. Is that not the same engine
That is underpowered for the size and weight of tractor for road work.

There is a new range of Sisu engines under development which is of advanced design [well it would be wouldn’t it:asshat:]. It may be that this will be introduced on Fendt brand tractors first. It is meant to have a very significantly lower noise level which is road vehicle drive-by noise compliant and class leading fuel consumption and performance characteristics. All the usual PR bullcrap which may or may not reflect some kind of reality. We shall see in the fullness of time.

Just for clarity, the tractor wasnt hitched to anything on the road, and 180hp plus boost should be ample for that sized tractor

Hey, I'm running a sisu

Comparing mowing the same field of grass that's yielding the same weight of dry matter, taking the same time to cover the acres, with the same mower hooked on

Or the same field being ploughed, to the same depth, with the same plough

Or the same power harrow

Or the same grass harrow

Or the same bale wrapper

Or an identical journey hauling the same weight of straw, with the same trailer

I'm not trying to "claim" anything. I know for a fact how much more fuel the sisu uses

Actual work done, year, after year, after year
Yes and your Deutz engine in a Fendt gives, what was it again, 35mpg fuel consumption when roading?

I have several tractors in the 160 to 180 PTO horsepower range and none are exactly overpowered on roads up hills. The 50kph one obviously has the greatest feeling of sluggishness because it will go no faster up hill with the same load as the 40kph ones, all dropping to about 13kph maximum with a loaded 10,000 litre tanker behind up some main road hills. The 50k tractor drops from 50kph to 13kph under load rather than from 40 to 13, which makes the 50kph tractor subjectively ‘feel’ far more sluggish than the 40kph ones.

Seen on tiktok the new 600 series, tractor in question was a 620. So is the 716,718 and 720 being replaced? Any1 know if its a sisu up front? Bound to be a backward step in fuel consumption compared to the deutz
Just a baby 1050 , one speed gearbox the same & all the toys like on a 1050, Joystick steering as well now at 224hp should be a good tractor

I'd imagine other manufacturers will go the same way before long, and in a few years you won't be able to buy a sub 200 hp tractor with a 6 cylinder engine. Probably down to emissions.

Its interesting they've managed to get 209 hp, boosting to 224 hp and 950 Nm between 1200 and 1600 rpm from a 5 litre 4 cylinder, shows how much engine technology is improving...

in years to a 50hp engine will drive a generator to power a 200+hp tractor

take a look at a 777 plane they now fly with 2 electric engines & one small gas turbine driving a Generator to power them

Really? I thought it had twin General Electric GE9X turbofans? The largest, if not one of the largest turbofan engines ever made?

Edit just checked, yes it has a pair of 90,000hp jet engines. It would need hell of a genny to run those with electric!

That is a new one on me. Most commercial passenger aircraft have 2 huge engines (gas turbines, basically) powering a huge fan at the front (hence turbofan) and an electrical generator at the rear of each. They also have a much smaller gas turbine engine- the auxiliary power unit to run the electrical systems if the generators in the main engines fail. If the proverbial really does hit the fan and there is no engines and no APU they can deploy the ram air scoop which is just a little windmill you extend into the air whizzing by and that gives you enough electrical power to run the cockpit instruments and maybe deploy the landing gear.

They have ran the 777 dream liner like i said for few years now in tests , was at Rolls-Royce for a VIP vist & they said they had made there last Gas turbine engines for planes & were working with Boeing on Electric ones

Aircraft will continue to run on liquid fuels for some time yet. Fortunately they can run on biofuels no problem. There is also a great deal of oil left underground.
