Fergie TEA20 running poor

Had my straight petrol fergie out tonight, started and ran well as normal hooked up the plough and drove up the field to have a play. Suppose it was running about half hour when it cut out. On re starting ran really rough, managed to limp back to shed. There was a steady flow of fuel so I'm pretty confident not a fuel issue, the coil was hot to the touch though. Am I right in thinking these can break down as can the newer type condenser in the distributor. I'm thinking these could be the issue but interested to hear thoughts

Condensers do break down, work fine until warm and then once hot the problems start, coils the same but less common. I would get a condenser and try it, not expensive.
I did find with mine that it was running very rich for some reason, would start instantly from cold but once warm was a pig to start and would miss with plenty of black smoke when you revved it up.

This one nearly always runs well never really given any issues, it's good from cold and warm generally and no smoke. I will order a tune up kit tommorow I think and change condenser and points. I'll go Tomy yard on way to work in morning and fire it up I'm guessing if it runs ok from cold that's my issue

The insulation of the rotor arm in the distributor can breakdown. There is no obvious fault to see, but it starts tracking to earth where it fits on the shaft. But this usually results in complete failure to run or start but is cheap to replace.

I have also seen coil breakdown result in intermittent failure to start and intermittent poor running, often once it's warmed up.
