Fertiliser first round for the paddocks - how much?

Hi everyone,

I'm just wondering how much fertiliser you put on for the 1st round just to wake the grass up a bit?

Thank you in advance for replies,
Tom

I’ll be going on with 40kg N/ha in the next week with the view to starting grazing in about 3 weeks time.

consider staggering applications a bit if you haven’t got a grass wedge established

I farm way up at the top of the hills

Be more efficient to pour it straight into the burn than bother spreading it on the fields first

Never seen it so wet
Not much better at the bottom. Think I'll wait until the soil has more capacity to hold water before I rig up the fert spinner.

Think il leave it this week

on the other hand if I pumped the slurry into that field it might float on the water and spread itself when water goes away

We are absolutely floating here, not sure what we will do with slurry if it doesn't dry up soon. The geese are loving it though, i must have lifted up near on 2000 off this afternoon when out on the quad.

Had to spread more slurry than I like on grazing ground this winter, should I spread salt first chance I get? Try to improve palatability? If so what sort of quantity per acre?

Will you help clear snow?
