Which is entirely the vendors problem. It needs to not become your problem.

It is, and they kindly offered to let me cancel it (Nitram bought at Ā£298). Iā€™ve had a small amount of CAN delivered that I need for the Autumn, then the full load can come any time before the Spring. Payment not due until the month following delivery, so Iā€™ll not push for a while.

When it hits Ā£400/t I can feel smug that I ā€˜onlyā€™ paid Ā£298 for it. šŸ¤”:banghead:

The fact is, we need it more than they need to drop the price.

So letā€™s say come February the situation is still some sort of stalemate with hardly anyone buying. We all know that without fertilizer, and particularly nitrogen then our crops ainā€™t going to be viable. So even at Ā£400 a tonne it will have to be bought.
Problem by then is deliveries will be unlikely to keep up with demand, so we will be stuffed both ways? Discuss.

Seems a fair assessment to me.

Getting quotes on Thursday they all wanted September delivery.

Will they still be valid next week?

Got quoted Ā£426 Sept, Ā£431 Oct. by one merchant for Yara Actyva 16-15-15-6.5So3 on Thursday morning.
Other merchant priced it at Ā£445 for October on Friday afternoon.

Expensive either way but if First price still valid come Monday morning tempted to book something as have done nothing fertiliser wise so far.

Quoted Ā£345 for 33.5N granular October and Ā£320 for 27N+9So3 granular September.

But they also know that if we donā€™t buy it this year and crops are poor, we arenā€™t going to have the cash to buy it next year. What would they do? Mothball the AN plants?
