We’re thinking of upgrading are fert pot, currently a Kuhn 30.1 axis, pretty keen on a Kuhn again and looking to do variable rate. Is there any benefit to a hydraulic drive over a mechanical version, reliability etc..
Hydraulic is really good as you're not having to run at high revs so easier to slow down for turning
Also if you're on steep ground you can be ticking over coming down and running flat out uphill with no disc speed variation
The Kuhn H emc is easy to understand how it works as it uses the oil pressure used to turn each disc so it knows what's going out each side and can vari the opening to allow for differences I'm not sure how the mechanical drive does it
I had an old model axera hemc and it was a great spreader but I've found a better one now in another breed the only thing I really miss is the hydraulic drive should've spec'd it but didn't
