Just finishing the last of N1. Not been an enjoyable experience. Agronomist just suggested I get the rest on. 😂😂. Don’t ya love em
I'm going 4 splits, 2 already on, on most of it, what hasn't got the 2nd spilt will probably be a 3 split job. I don't want to put a big dollop on and watch it go down the drains.
I would like to say that was as a result of the catchment sensitive farming meeting I was at last night, but in all honesty, it's just my inherent tightness.

You aren't the only one. Did another field of catching up on N1 this afternoon here - spread the field the opposite way to normal so the drier bits would carry the full spreader. Got down to 1000kg in the hopper before doing the worst bits and it was a job to keep going through the autumn sprayer ruts - must have been 50% wheel slip or more.

Some wet spots are almost bottomless with the continual rain.

Be a few weeks before I'll be able to get the trailed sprayer anywhere near.

Now just got the fields on the slopes to do - not looking forward to that!

My sixty acres of heavier good wheat land is simply impassable. Nothing on it at all yet. Just being doing 600 kg loads on my lighter land until we had the rain was it Monday night. Nothing done since. Fitting a set of old terras to my Lambo as an emergency measure with single bag loads. It’s unprecedented. Trying to engineer my way through it but feel more like just giving up on it and closing the gate rather than throwing more money and effort at it. Agro writing some fairly hefty herbicide tickets. Personally I wouldn’t but I’ll defer to his knowledge.

Did all barley with growth reg and some micro nutrition yesterday. One thing I’ve noticed is where there is BYDV, it is all directly next to a solar farm/nature reserve with loads of scrubby grass etc. it was the same in the wheat last year That also bordered it.
Interesting observation re the nature reserve and bydv.

we border a military airfield for at least a total of 2 miles, all grass, mostly uncut rough grass, which will have been there since 1940, and I can say that we see no more bydv next to the airfield than on another parts of the farm.
no insecticides used for years 🤷🏻

Hang on in there, we have had a few dry days strung together now and its amazing how it changes your mindset. You might just have to wait a bit longer than anyone else but I promise it will come good. When it suddenly feels like Spring its amazing how quick you forget about all the rain, just try and wait a bit more and don't lose hope!

Cheer up.

It's only 13 weeks to longest day, then nights start drawing in again and back to wooly hats and socks. 👍
