BT are currently installing fibre optic in our area and they have fitted one of these to the pole nearest my house but what is it? I am curious to know
It’s an optical termination enclosure. Inside it contains a splice cassette - basically holding the splices (ends of fibre terminations) securely.
Thanks for the reply
Why are the ends of the fibre in there?.........I thought the ends should be in my wall socket with my router connected.
Is it some sort of splitter that splits the fibres for each individual property?
Are you getting Fibre to the Premises? Keep us informed as to how it goes - our village is due to be installed this Spring, but it keeps getting delayed

Is Marie Strong your County Councillor? She said we were the first in her division to have FTTP rather than Fibre to the Cabinetjust got ours....don't get to exicited IME.....kids say it's better.....me being cynical thinks it's similar to last year...but that during last year it got slower and slower..then 'hey presto' it's better

Your wifi signal is not dependant on the type of broadband connection you have, it's your router or your mobile at fault.yes....sorry not FTTP....just fibre to cabinet....i'm underwhelmed by it.....old wifi signal i could get all round the yard....new ones not great

I know what you mean but the speed or type of broadband won't make any difference to the strength of the wifi signal that your router provides.it's a BT....isn't advertised as their most powerful router.....anyhoo i'm a simple country lad and in my book if i buy something thats s'posed to be better it should

Fair enough but that still has nothing to do with whether your broadband is fast fibre or a slow copper line. A shît router is a shît router. It does if they give you a sh1tter of a router with the intimation it’s better than what you had before
