Morning , My inlaws have a little field 1 3/4 acres I'd say 2 acres max,
What kinda brass should they be charging to put some sheep on?
How many £ per head per wk or figure per year?
It won't have had any muck for a good while but had abit of posh fert as it's just had Alpaccas on it for last 10 years.
Just a few ball park figures will help
Thanks in advance ,

Is it fenced and watered?
If so and it's reasonable grass maybe £50/acre.
BUT - I'd want it to be next door for that.
If there's travel involved it's hardly enough to be worth bothering with.
I've turned down free unfenced bits like this cos it's more hassle than it's worth.

no nags, they will ruin it.:(

But they'll pay handsomely to ruin it. A paddock that size would keep one horse for sure, maybe two depending on size and if the horse owner removed the muck regularly. And you could get £10/week per horse, so maybe as much as £80-90/month. Which is about a grand a year. You're not going to make £500/acre keeping sheep on it.............

You're asking in the wrong place. Obviously us farmers who already farm hundreds of acres, aren't going to show much interest in a 2 acre field, just doesn't make business sense.

However, some body with no land, who wants to keep a few hens or a pony etc as a hobby, will be willing to pay £15-20 a week, which is only the same price as a few pints a week. That will soon add up to £1000 a year.

I personally wouldn't pay anything for a place that size, and wouldn't want to invest more than an hour or two sorting the fences on it, if it were free. My advice would be to find a livestock owner whose animals they are happy to have around, and let them have it for a token rent - maybe a butchered half lamb or £50 a year at most.

Buy a S/H topper and tractor, and keep it tidy yourself. Renting it for f**k all, on gentleman's terms for 3 cans of beer, and 2 second class postage stamps sounds like a recipe for ending up with a squatter, and 4 decades of solicitors bills.:)

Can it benefit you in any way? If so then maybe a token gesture half lamb at the end of the year or similar.

They would make more renting it out to a horsey type person but unfortunately the good ones are few and far between and generally equines = mess, grief, lots of docks and stinging nettles.
