Filling creep feeders

am totally fed up with filling bags up and taking them out to fields, it’s just taking up a lot of time and energy. Ideas how I can take the work out of the job and speed it up ? Grass is fair distance apart so can’t use teleporter and grain bucket to do it.

Other than using a telehandler and tip skip like tong peal make I can’t see many options?

How about having cake delivered blown into 500kg seed bags and then putting the bag on top of the hopper so they self empty? This does depend on what shape hoppers you have etc...

Out of interest how much creep feed are you using and for how many groups of sheep? I've ordered 4t in bulk which is the most I've ever used in a season so feeding in bags isn't too much of an issue. We're using large grass seed bags rather than cake bags as they are much larger and stronger.

Using about a tonne a day now but going to have a bit draw of lambs next week so should cut it down a bit.

Been looking for something similar too. At the moment father runs about the countryside with a 2t bucket on front of handler, with a set of pallet forks rammed in feed!

Have used ton bags, but its a faff filling them and unsafe working under bag untying and tying them off.

Seem to remember krm had a setup off a fert spreader with auger that folded out for filling creep feeders.

I’d be lost without mine great for filling smaller lamb creeps

And when there on bigger hoppers just pull into the field and top up 3 portequip feeders in one go rather than do multiple trips

I’ve also made a metal bar thing to hold the pipe out so you don’t need to stand holding it only need to fold it in the road as it lifts over gate stoops with being on 3pt linkage

I use seed bags with a hatch at the bottom that you can tie and untie. With 2 on the front of the tractor I imagine you could take a tonne out at a time. If it's a fair distance I've seen people put them in a grain/muck trailer to transport.

How much do you think a lamb costs to creep. I’m not saying your wrong in creeping but as I’m sure your aware you need to be making top money of lambs

There’s not many people do farming purely for money

In the UK several of my customers are. They’re making a rather good job of it and appear to be on track with their equity targets.

But then they started with nothing and treat it like a business, including putting a value on their own time.

And many farmers internationally are doing very well from agriculture.
