we have a water leak, well we have a water meter and it turns when we know no water is not being used, costs us money because its metered ? we know roughly were the leak could be, we have dug a couple of holes, this is not quite as easy as it sounds because the possible leak is under some concrete further compunded by armoured electricity cables ? anyone have any helpful suggestions please ?

Dig it up either side of the concrete, cut it off and re route it above ground. Water pipes should never be under concrete for the above reason...

Basically this.

I had a water leak under the concrete floor in the kitchen where the water main entered the building, just relayed the pipe coming into the building rather than pulling the floor up.

Good advice, I have done this several times over the years, sadly I usually concrete over the newer pipe in the fullness of time, If you are really lucky you can knock a shutter pin through the new pipe at the same time. :scratchhead:

Dig it up either side of the building, cut the pipe, fit a stop tap temporarily then if the leak isn't on the section above, rejoin the pipe or leave the stop tap and fit a chamber for future reference.

Not helpfull for the op but Its ok to put water pipe under concrete / a floor, just put it in a ducting pipe.
If its a long run , suck a piece of baler cord through with a vacuum cleaner, if there Are young children around at the time let them watch , will make them giggle.
" always look ahead " is the advice I was given years ago.

But Cowboy builders don't bother of course.
