Fixings to keep gates straight help please.

My wife and I rent a barn and rear calves up in it. We usually do pens that are 22feet long. This means we have one gate hung on girders and then the next and front gates are all on the ground, tied up with string and more often than not, never staying straight. I'm not a technical person but have an idea that I'm hoping you guys can help me with.

I have an idea but if anyone has a better way of doing it, please shout!!!! Ok....so I'm thinking of a piece of metal like a "n" shape to fit over the gate that comes down deep enough to bolt

Not sure if that little picture makes any sense. I also want to make it a "T" shape to do gate fronts. Is there anything already on the market for this kind of botch job or can you guys suggest something else?

Looks like your gates have holes in the end upright sections? If so why not get some threaded eye bolts and join using pins

String is fine for gates but if you want them straight and swinging a post needs to be put in.
In that picture a post hanging the gate either side and the far one also hanging at one end or the other.
There are n-shaped pieces which you can put over double gates but for firmness there needs to be hinges and a post somewhere.

Either weld a D shape onto end of gates or use hinges then use a vertical pin to create like cattle hurdles?
Only "propper" way is to cast a post in

All I’ve used is rounds and not had any issues tbf never seen square for sale just got what was in stock from the local fencing supplier

I have some gates that I have drilled 3/4" holes in the latching ends ,so I can put hanging eyes both ends. Put a short piece of 3/4" pipe inside to prevent the box section from collapsing.

Get a length of scaffold tube bend some steel into an s shape hook it over the gate bar and drop the tube into the bottom of the s across the two gates if you see what I mean

As with everything we do here, we are trying not to do anything permanent as we are forever moving things around and don't know when we might lose the use of the barn.

It’s just a hole and a bag of cement if you decide to move stuff around just fill hole in and get another sleeve
