Fliegl Okodry and/or Stronga Flowdrya

I have a client looking for a drying floor and he is considering either of the above. Does anyone have any experience in either and any comments on them would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't seen one working but I have been looking at them online, would I be right in saying that you cannot connect the Okodry directly to a hot water source - it looks as though you need to have a source of hot air instead? This would mean you need a separate blower to turn hot water into hot air before connecting to this type of dryer.

I believe that there would be a heat exchanger connected to a fan that is controlled by the temperature of the air in the drying room similar to how biomass drying floors work i.e. hot water passes through a heat exchanger/coil and air is pushed over it into the drying room. I think Stronga call it their Heatex.

I would think that both the Alvan Blanche & Perry are too expensive compared to the Stronga or Fliegl though. I think they come in at around the £120k mark.

i doubt that there will be alot between perry, stronga, fliegl.
maybe the alvan blanche could be dearer but thats just a gut feel and you normally get what you pay for.
the bottom line is that it will be less about cost and more about whether they will do the job or not.
i have looked at and continue to look at all three and drying / opex figures are scarce on the ground.
stronga are unproven to this point in time in digestate, although they have a couple of installs being commissioned right now.

i question if drying pressed digestate is worth it
there must be a better use for the waste heat

We were quoted by stronga but on further investigation the dryer wasn't what we needed Very simple and little to go wrong though, only one moving part if i remember. We were then quoted by Alvan Blanch and the price was far superior and we know that the blanch can dry chip which is what we wanted. Not sure about digestate though. Their website is fairly detailed so you should be able to see on there.

I realise this is late, but....
Our belt driers are available at significantly less than £100k fully built and ready to go! We are also in the process of manufacturing a fully mobile test rig which our customers can use on their own site using their product for a couple of weeks with just the cost of delivery & fuel to run it (delivery cost re-funded if belt drier purchased). They are proven on many different products, woodchip, digestate, grass, seeds, SRF, RDF... all sorts! Full details here http://www.perryofoakley.co.uk/belt-drier or call +44 (0)1404 890300

Why Dry Anaerobic Digestate or Sludge:
  • Reduce the cost of transporting & storing digestate.
  • Dry the digestate by using residual heat that would otherwise have been wasted
  • Reduce the amount of emissions & odours digestate creates.
  • Sell the dried digestate, creating new revenue options.
  • Save energy & reduce your carbon footprint.
What can I use dry digestate or dry sludge for:
  • Biomass energy (easy to pelletize).
  • Organic fertilizer and compost.
  • Animal bedding
We also have a short article on our website here http://www.perryofoakley.co.uk/news/does-drying-digestate-really-pay

Why not look a the Nutrient value benefit and just spread to land ?

Seems to me with the removal of any RHI, drying digestate is a waste of good heat.

In addition, what about the cost of dealing with the emissions from the dryer under the latest regulations ? How much is the additional cost ?
