Average in the UK would be a lot less that 4000, probably closer to 400 I'd have thought.

There fair few in north wales in mountains with flocks of 3-000 or moreAverage in the UK would be a lot less that 4000, probably closer to 400 I'd have thought.
Average 4000? No chance.
More like 300!
There are hundreds and hundreds, probably thousands of flocks of 50 -500 ewes!
Not that many people running 3000 plus as one flock.
A tiny handful running anywhere near 10,000.
Poor buggers.
Thing is over 5-000 sheep is lot time spent checking and feeding them,Jesus over here 1000 is big, id say we are the biggest in our area with 1500ish ewes, im over in scotland here for a few days and have to say i have seen a lot of sheep the last few days, very impressed with the quality of sheep
Well im hoping to go up to 1800 to 2000 ewes and manage that number mostly by myself, i think keeping anymore and employing a full time man would mean all the extra ewes would just about pay the workman so it would be pointless really... would it?Thing is over 5-000 sheep is lot time spent checking and feeding them,

Well in 90s on my uncle dairy unit he also ran flock sheep about 100 if that,Yes there are, And no doubt In the 60's-90's you would have seen 10-15,000 on those farms. But its not like that anymore
