Buy your own tank, that way you are not tied, propane is for less than nothing these days if you shop it around.

Do they not have to be tested though ? I thought it was all part of renting tanks

Yep. A 10 year test. As in once every ten.
I think they have a 20 year test too.
Iirc the tanks cost £400 for a 1/2 t tank.

Our local firm exchanged our tanks when they were due for test.

Think FloGas tank are rent free over here, but if you aren't using it they reserve the right to lift it if they need it.
We were with Calor for years on a rented tank but went with flo after a bit of a fallout over pricing, installed a brand new tank too.
