Foamed or Aero Concrete

Anyone here with experience of this type of product please, who could help with a couple of questions?

I have a cellar in the farmhouse that we are looking to fill in. Because of the location, we need to pump the fill in, and the idea behind the aerated concrete is it weight a fraction of concrete or indeed, hardcore fill, and can get into all the nooks and crannies we require.

I haven’t that much experience of it but what you suggest sounds reasonable. Essentially the main difference from normal concrete is they use sand rather than a coarse mix and add a foaming agent.

Just trying to find someone with expertise in actually using the product.

I spoke to one of the suppliers in the Midlands, and the different density of mixes they can provide is wide. They will spec to your requirements.
You are essentially filling a void which has no structural requirements other than supporting its own load so the compressive strength of the mix is not as important. I would be aiming for as low a density as possible because say your basement is 2m deep then normal concrete would be exerting a load of 5tonne per m2 on the basement floor which may lead to a bit of settlement of the existing structure. So lighter the filler the better

Why ever do you want to fill a cellar? Many uses and will cause damp issues.

This cellar has no uses, it's too low for starters... Just a PITA, one of which, is a damp issue!!

I should have filled it in when we rebuilt the house 9 years ago, but we were advised that to do so would be expensive, and require Building control monitoring, so we decked over it again. Bad call on my part...

What about using a void former and just capping with concrete?
