That story about the farmer shooting his Dog because his sheep were killed is ridiculous. F&M or not, the bloke sounds like a loon.
He probably was, at that particular time.[/QUOTE]

Times were very ,very stressful. A guy a couple of farm's away watched his pedigree herd of show winning cattle with decade's of breeding, slaughtered and the team left one of their guns unattended. Well the Farmer picked it up and put it to his head and squeezed the trigger!
It was how ever empty and just clicked. Another Loon maybe? Or a desperately stressed/depressed Farmer that saw everything he had ever worked and cared for and lived for destroyed in front of his own eye's and was more than the guy could take?????

If I remember rightly, Nick Brown almost caused a diplomatic 'incident' by hinting that FMD came from the back end of a Chinese restaurant, via Bobby Waugh's swill.
Nothing like a false trail. Bobby couldn't fight back but the Chinese were not amused.

I can SO understand and emphasise with that farmer, and even, if true, the one who shot his dog. I wonder what he did and where he is now. Those that think he was a loon, probably did not live in the heart of the outbreak or have any real love of stock. Maybe time has dulled their memories. It certainly hasnt dulled mine. I wish it had but I doubt I'm alone.

As the author of the blog mentioned, I would be happy to confirm how genuine it is to anybody that doubts it.

I'm sorry it was never completed; perhaps one day I will find the strength to do so.

Just yesterday I had a two hour session with a therapist, who has now referred me on as my confirmed PTSD as a result of FMD is considered severe, even now, after 19 years.

Anybody who doubts how badly that disease impacted on so many people needs to give their head a good wobble.

I hope those of you reading this who were affected are able to find some peace one day.

Kind Regards

Matt

I'm glad you took the trouble to come back on and post. I always appreciated your input and knowledge on this and TB topics and no I have no doubts about how it affected many

Thank you both for the kind words.

We cannot thank the honest chroniclers of FMD enough, imv, @Poster that was Matt . Sincere thanks to you, and all good wishes for your recovery coming soon.

Dear God it was awful, wasn't it.

Yes, it was, and sadly still is for some.

I'm not in great shape at the moment; thankfully after my marriage ended I have somebody new in my life who has encouraged me to seek help.

I'm at the start of what I hope will be a process to help me find a way to live with myself, and I would urge others suffering with similar health issues to do the same.

Bless you all. Thank you.
