Ford 7740 sle

I have a Ford 7740 keep knocking out of gear an has an oil pressure light on the dash but it keeps going blank on the gear dialog on the dash then jumps out of gear put her back into gear an away she goes again for a while any idea what it might be ?

Frayed cable on F/R shuttle. Take side off and have a look. @agrimax i think is very knowledgeable on these.

If you mean f/r gear how much movement have you got on lever, never ever had a frayed cable, if a lot of free movement remove cab floor mat and plate check cable flange socket head bolts can come loose o r flange will be bent, but if still jumping out of forward will be wear in synchro and thrust washer's [these are primary cause of problem as they are plastic], can you hold it in gear.

I have. That’s why I suggested it. It did come up with an error code though.
