Ford 7810 info

Hi

Just wondering if someone could help refresh my reducing memwa. On uncles farm back in day (im only 31 hehe) we had a 7810 series 3 and current and retired worker tell me it was a silver jubilee but blue. I used to drive her when was younger and loved her ever since (as uncle sold it for a 7840) in 1994 or something. I just remember the 7810 to be great and will be wanting one in next few years once can afford one. The thing is that the staff said it was a blue silver jubilee and they said it had a sticker or badge saying so and i think i remember something near the series 3 badge near front grill. Just wondered if anyone could share some light on this. Uncle also bought a 7610 that year and have the metal/wood plaque in my office with the reg on but never got one for the 7810 :(

My neighbour had a silver one in 88 or 89, new it was 19 or 20 k, we had a new 956 the year before for 16k, how did tractors end up 80 to 100 k :scratchhead: I am sure he said you had the choice of blue or silver for the special edition, he ended up with the silver one cause it was the last one the dealer had, the dealer gave him a good deal cause they did,nt want to get stuck with it in the yard, at the time the silver ones wer,nt that popular. A good example now worth 20 to 25 k :woot:

I thought they were all originally silver, but some were repainted blue as they didn't sell well. Should have a few ' extras ' on it like air con, performance monitor, and 4 spools......
Surprising number knocking about considering there were only 150 to begin with....:shifty:

Thanks for feedback and lovely photo of all the silvers! Yes done but research into silvers jubilee 7810 and heard every dealer got one but die hard ford people wasn't keen on them so went back for respray at cheaper cost. Farm staff said it had 4 spools and double assist rams and I remember aircon in it just wondered if anyone has or had the blue silver jubilee and if it had a sticker or something saying it was a silver jubilee as just be nice ease my brain.

A lot of dealers did find it difficult to sell the silver 7810's, especially to the diehard Ford fans so a lot were repainted blue. Now, I have heard stories of blue 7810's being repainted in silver.
If I remember correctly the original silver tractors showed signs of rust a lot sooner than the blue. Another reason for a colour change perhaps.

They haven't. 90 to 100hp basic[ish] tractors are still 'only' around £30,000[ish] so only gone up 50% in nearly 30 years. So not so bad after all eh?.
I understand what your saying, but back then that was a big tractor, the average size of hp in the 80s 90s was 100 hp, now its 150 to 180 hp, so in reality they have gone up, because the average farm is buying 150 hp tractors thus spending 70 80 k on them. crazy but true(y)

Tractor manufacturers can't help that farmers are buying bigger more expensive machines nowadays and are bitching about the price at the same time. Fact is, if you compare like with like, that is 90 and 100hp basic tractors, yes they have increased in price, but by 50 to 100% over 30 years, not the multiples of that, which so many like to talk about but which in reality is for all singing and dancing suspended 200hp technical marvels.

I think every new ford sold that year came with a pewter model with matching reg number
The silver jubilee were all full spec version, 250 I thought were produced

Yes your right there, just a mystery why didnt get a pewter model with the 7810, unless workers were wrong and it wasn't a silver jubilee 7810, just when they said had a sticker on saying it, is causing me a bit of headache lol.

Have an update apparently it was a f reg so 88-89 so should be in silver year as was 89-90? Spoke to worker this morning and he said it had a badge/sticker on front with 25 years with a wheat or something crest cupping the 25 years bit. Going have dig vat books out and see if can shed some light as sold it for 7840 in 1993/4.

If it was a silver jubilee model it would be silver, not blue, would be impossible to mistake it
Maybe there was some other sticker on all fords that year?
