Ford 8340 sle (white roof) no drive error code E28

Hi all, we have an 8340 sle early model. Have been having numerous problems with it .
Over past few months it has been struggling to drive when started first thing but when left to warm up for 20 minutes or so it would drive. But currently the tractor wont move at all in any gear. It may only move an inch or two when clutch is released but then drops out. If you turn tractor on and off again it might go another inc or two . Lights on dash flash and error code e28 pops up.

Any info on the issue would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Thnaks Very much for the reply, I will start checking the connections etc.

Where is the C1/C2pressure switch located? Have had nothing but trouble with this tractor, but when working its a great tractor to go!

So it’s behind the battery box there’s a valve block with 4? Solenoids 2 facing one way 2 the other. One is 4wd the others are gears unless there’s one for diff lock I can’t remember now. Check wires to them often they snap or rot off or get chewed off if you have sheep. Sometimes I swap them over if there’s a problem to see if it’s a solenoid or wiring. They do go but not very often. There’s an earth wire somewhere there too

Just loosen the nut on the end to swap them over. If you take piston out be careful don’t drop or knock it or it will be buggered. Keep it clean too

OP says it's an early sle....presumably a prequad. Solenoids will be internal then if it is......
It might benefit by shortening the clutch cable very slightly. The pedal activates a valve in the transmission on every start up and if the valve isn't pulled in fully, drive won't happen. Also check the alternator is charging fully.

Thanks for replies,

yes its pre quad model,
haven't had a chance to check anything yet but might have a go at it tomorrow, will keep thread updated if I do get it sorted.
I have read on the net previously the clutch pedal cable issue, a simple fix like that would be great, (y)

Will keep you updated
