P reg Ford 7840 with MX loader/no attachments with 8000 hours, fairish condition.Whats it worth? Back tyres just 10%,fronts about 60% Electric 3rd service doesnt seem to have been used for a long time.Right hand drop arm seized/not been used.one mirror missing, front lights bashed/one broken.Bonnet paint flaky. No battery cover, steps seem bent.Wires on battery terminal seem a bit iffy, are these for the electric button 3rd service?Cant see any oil leaks. It is in dealers yard, but last owner says all working ok,but engine becoming a bit smoky? (i thought powerstar engines were reliable/bombproof?) I have just looked on appearance, not had tractor running yet. What to look out for when running?Any comments appreciated as looking to buy.

The one local to here is the 'Scrap sale' and the 'fur and feather' is the vermin sale.
I thought they got some good stuff in at York,or is it just full of Quite Fantastic buyers and sellers? Do you think this 7840 is worth a punt? What else is there to look out for? and would a franchised dealer give any warranty on it?

Scrap sale is Northallerton, vermin sale at Thirsk.
They've changed scrap sale from Saturday to Friday so they don't miss out on car parking income on Saturdays. Not daft.

What gearbox, aircon and how many spools and assister rams?
Worth a punt at £10k, full retail at £13k.
Rear rubber is damned expensive.

Just normal checks for front axle wear and track rod ends.
The powerstar always blows a bit out of the breather.
8k hours is a good life for shuttle and gearbox selectors on loader work.
If they haven't been done they will need it.
Can get into top of box without splitting.

Loader is in one spool and the return,so just one other.I thought all later models would be SLE.Its something i know little about, just used to the old 10 series.I put two new rears on my 8210,cost about a grand.

SL DP and SLE were available throughout. 8340 SLE only.

Just one pair of spools cen be a bit limiting on other jobs but can upgrade at a breaker's. Aircon less easy to upgrade. ;)

Yes sometimes good stuff at York and sometimes not. Depends on time of year I reckon.

As for quality Farm equipment I have a feeling bridges have been burnt there as not many tractors in the last sale or 2.
