Free range poultry on non free draining soil ? Can it be done ?

Hi all,

we are free range turkey farmers and have some sheds on light sandy land and our only other land is heavy clay.

I’m wondering if anyone has some advice on if there is anything I can do to help the drainage around the shed if we were to put a shed on our heavier clay land. The turkeys will be free range so the area around the shed will become pouches and water logged. Looking for potential novel ideas somthing out of the box that may allow me to build a free range shed on heavy land

I have seen some people using gravel around shed but I’m also aware this gets covered in muck and straw over time and the gravel is sort of lost

would wood chip be an option ?
French drains would these be a option as well ? How could I prevent them from getting covered in straw and muck

interested to hear some ideas
Thank you for your help
