In an attempt to save bees and stop being annoying to the non farming members of French society their government have banned day time spraying

My personal opinion is, if they let us have the banned chems back I'd take nightime spraying

This ban is for spraying between March and October

I wouldn't mind betting that the French Government had the agreement of the farmers before this was put in place otherwise there would have been trouble. The French Farmer doesn't appear to put up with crap from anyone and long may that continue, we could do with some of their organisation and commitment n this side of the channel.

How little you know. Current French administration is no friend of arable farmers. Regulations being applied to them are, in many cases, more restrictive than here. Talk to the French arable farmers representatives like AGPB and you will almost start feeling sorry for them.

Very good point. Believe it or not, they grudgingly admire our Voluntary Initiative for the hassle it has saved us. British sprayer operators are mostly better informed, trained & less heavily regulated than our French brethren.

The problem at the moment is the slug in the suit(hollande) has put his ex ségolene royal in the ministre de l' ecologie, as she is to old for bedroom duties, so we keep getting these stupid proposals, she also wanted to ban spraying within 200 metres of houses! but weve got to accept a ban on aerial spraying is going to happen and accept that we must use insecticides when bees arent active ie evening and morning, hence the farming unions shouting so loudly that it crossed the channel "french to ban daytime spraying",everyone here knows it aint gonna happen,it is just pre negotiating ridiculing of the governments proposals, we pay tax on our pesticides.and now have sprayer operator certificates and training before you can buy pesticides, the problem is with the national government. Generally here alot of countryside laws are locally administered ie badgers, If i believe that badgers pose a threat to my livestock i go to the mairie and tell them, they send out an "adjoint de mairie" usually a retired farmer, he asseses the risk to the animals and contacts the local badger sett destrution team who will gas or shoot them, the above article tells you about how we deal with badgers
If i have a bad grass infestation in a field of wheat i can apply to the mairie to burn the straw they will decide depending on local factors whether i can,
