Front and rear wheel sizes

Think I'm going to go for 18.4 x 34's as they are as tall as 16.9x38's and have a bigger footprint. Next dilemma is Trellborgs or BKT's at £750 less??!!

Are you sure about that?
I don't think 18.4 34 are near as tall as 16.9 38
If it helps I have a tractor with 16.9 34 and 13.6 24
I'm swapping to 16.9 38 and 13.6 28

18.4x34s are 33mm lower and have a rolling circumference 127mm less than 16.9x38s according to BKT. Whether this matters depends on the size of the front tyres and the interaxle ratio.

am no expert but if you have for example 600/65-38 you need 480/65-28 at the front.
The widths can be more or less but the other two numbers can stay the same & most cert the last numbers.
Got 650/65-52 with 540/65-30 aswell on farm

I'm no expert either, but you're wrong. ;)
Second number is aspect ratio of sidewall height as a % of tyre width. It's the combination of the first 2 digits that's crucial to denote tyre height.
It's a science, but a simple one.

Put 540/65 R34's on and leave the front alone

Why not 540/65 R34? Same height as 16.9 but nearly 22" wide. Fine if you've already got 15" rims but might be a bit wide for 14"
