Front mower conditioner

I'm just throwing in an option for self propelled mower: Valtra with twin trac and a 7,3m wide "reverse drive" mower. Superior on turns, it all opens in front of your eyes, so no turning head to check on rears etc.

Iirc Pöttinger and maybe Kuhn make their own versions.

Cant find anything like this in South Africa. I have seen these mowers before on researching mowers but I think the market in South Africa not enough for anyone to bring it in

Now make it capable of depositing the swath out either side and you would have a real winner 👍

New holland says they can do a 6m disc cutter for a swather. Maybe not available in South Africa.
It is available on request but the swather come standard with a 4.9m disc cutter. But I am back to a tractor with front hitch after seeing swather prices.

NH SP200 with 4.9m header 1.8 million ZAR (90500 pounds)
Macdon M155 with 3.9m header 2.6 million ZAR (125600 pounds)
John Deere W220 4.5 million ZAR (226000 pounds)

At one time I was considering a one piece reverse drive mower, well more like a vague idea but hey, I did do my research. The thing that put me off(one of the things) is/was balance. I love light machines and low ground pressure and for that you need proper distribution of weight and that is one particular point where a triple is head and shoulders above any other mower setup. Big weight on the big rear wheels, smaller weight on the smaller front wheels, no need for additionell weight like a reverse drive mower, which has less working width aswell. Putting a merger on set of triples would make it a bit less balanced, on a reverse drive mower it would destroy anything left of it.
I might just be justifying my fetish though 🤷‍♂️ .

I had JD front and rear mounted mowers on my Jd6155r and I did find the work rate was great. The only thing I struggled with was leaving grass between the mowers on turns and having to go back and attempt to remow the swarth without destroying the integrity of the swarths.
