Front PTO-New Holland

Think I have an issue with the front PTO on a T6 new holland.

Recently bought a front mounted topper, did a few acres of light grass topping and no issues.

Yesterday moved on to some heavier stuff to cut. Blades stopped spinning and I thought I'd done the shear bolt as speed read out in cab still showed 1,000rpm.

Shear bolt fine.

Tried again and same result as soon as soon as hit some tougher bits.

Jumped out if cab whilst PTO still in gear, yes I know not clever, shaft not rotating but display reading 1,000.

Is the clutch pack goosed?

if its the same as in my 6070then the splines have been chewed off, its a effing stupid design, there is a six spline male shaft that are the size of a normal six spline, the female end had six splines which are the size of a 21 spline so lots of slap, when front mowing I would wear them out every 1700/2000 acres, NH would always calim mine was the only one that did it but I know that is a lie, sit down when you get the bill, its an easy change so used to carry a spare set, just had to wait till it cooled down

Replaced 2 drive shafts on the front of 7040s last year something in the drive shaft had gone cant remember if its a cv joint or rubber dougnut atm
But apparently very common

Requires 3 pont linkage off front of tractor jacked up to drop axle down
Cooling packs lossened and lifted can just lift enough enough without undoing pipes took us a a day per tractor

Check the amount of oil in the box, we had the same and seals were letting oil in and overfilled the gear box and stopped the front pto.

I'd drain a bit of oil, if it's black as, smells burnt, then I'd says the plates broke up, they all seem similar set up inside, last one of a jd5820, cheap by new unit. Good luck
