Front tank to trailer cultivator

Looking at using a front mounted seed tank to blow seed to the back of a trailer cultivator (carrier). Has anyone done something like this before? The fact it’s trailed may cause some issues with the pivot point?
Plan on using the same front tank with a combination drill and other stuff so would like to be able to utilise it for a number of different operations.

Should be fine long as you’ve got a bit of flexible at the pivot and make sure said pivot is over the drawbar? Biggest challenge will be getting the airflow right with such a long drag

Yeh I wondered about airflow. It’s a long way to send stuff.

Especially if it’s a cover crop with fluffy seed; fair potential of it getting caught up in turbulence. Anything possible though; straight(ish) runs with option of adding/removing exhausts and a decent front hopper which I’m sure you have; should be fine. @Clive would be a good source of info as his CO wet weather drill had a similarly long drag

This is weaving territory. I ran a weaving front tank for a few years and the only thing to watch is you need twin mushrooms if you want to achieve higher seed rates at a decent forward speed. With the single mushroom I couldn't get over 200kg/ha unless going quite slow. If this is for cover crops it'll be fine. From memory the front tank and side pipe with GPS was around £12k.

They supply the bracket as well to run the pipe to the side of the tractor as they bolt it to the chassis. Use straight plastic single length pipe for the bulk of the run and just flexi at each end. Dont join pipes as the seed can catch inside and build up over time restricting the air flow.

Very good point I forgot about Clive’s thing. Think he has a Horsch partner front tank which is what I will buy

Can't see mushroom size being a issue anymore.

Amazone and Pottinger are blowing seed and fert back in one pipe to one mushroom. Combined rate of fert and seed could be 450kg/ha, some would be higher rates.

18k for a new weaving tank on its own now.

We can chuck beans down the pipe at 300kg/ha on a 6m cultivator at 10km no problem at all . We use the same fan that weaving fit to their front hoppers .

This puzzled me the other week, I was speaking to Mike @ Weavings and he was pushing 2 metering units on a front tank to get enough seed @ 6m through but the GD has only 1 on

It’s put me off converting my front tank I have off my old KRM unless anyone can suggest an alternative.

That’s comparable money with the smaller Horsch…big one was just over 20 when I asked few weeks ago
