I’ve watched Gabe’s talks but not much else, must take a look at the holistic section on here one day. I’m of the same opinion as Rebanks regarding the first winter, it will take time to cover across to there new system and find a balance.
It does, at least that's our experience with making more paddocks for less mobs.

It's still a good habit to question everything we do, see if it's as fit-for-purpose as we thought it was - things change, we can leave ourselves behind

It can be quite a big swing, especially if we're used to thinking in 'animal performance terms', as I was; it always came back to stock and not the soil.

5 years ago I simply would have laughed at what we do today, and we were almost there!

Read it a few days ago and thought how many cows they need to make a decent living on low stocking density? Not making hay? All fluffy lets see if it works over 10 years. Extremes in weather. No planning?

It's sad that well-meaning but completely naïve would-be farmers can go ahead with a ridiculous plan, condoned and encouraged by equally ignorant Journalists, and that no sensible local farmer has the courage to advise them otherwise.

To be cruel to be kind, is a very apt saying.

If you can cut your expenses to virtually nil then you don’t need to make so much in the first place. Loads of us spend all our income supporting lots of other business leaving nothing for ourselves
