Gallagher Solar S16 Red Light

Ive had a Gallagher Solar S16 fencer in use for seven years and now the red light is flashing. Is it because of a few days of no sun? Will it recover its charge if I leave it on the fence hoping the sun today will recharge it? The Gallagher manual states it may need a replacement 6v rechargeable battery. Does one just go to Halfords for one or has it got to be a Gallagher?

Sounds like batts flat , I replace mine with Gallagher batts but no reason why you can’t use others , once replaced you will need to leave in the sun to charge (if there’s any )

the deatil will be written on the battery check that then oreder one accordingly, fully charge it before fitting, for that you will need a 6v charger of course. just like motor bike ones


if you get any difficulty doing it just post back with a photo or 2 and well talk you through it.

Had a similiar issue with my 12v solar fencer recently. 45 quid for new lead acid and charged at home.

Think a short had killed the battery...

My s100 did the same once sun was out worked fine

We had the same with our S40 recently. Red light flashing, needed a new battery after 3 years. Cost 20 odd quid.
