can Some one tell me how much I should be paying per ton for having a shed galvanised.
The shed manufacturer has told me that the price of zinc has recently gone up and therefore the cost of galvanising has jumped to?

What kind of price are they charging you per ton extra ?, I am surprised you know the weight of the building also proximity to the plant will be a big factor and also the length of sections

from manufacturing plant to galvanisers is about 10 miles and then from galvanisers to me is about 4 miles.

Longest section would be a rafter I guess at about 12/13 meters.
Reasonably big stanchions.
Got about 70 tons to galv.
It’s just we have added a few extra bits and they are saying that they are going to have charge more for them.
Would like to know what todays going rate is for this amount?

galvanizing is normally charged on the galvanized weight( steel plus the zinc applied) which on structural steel is anything between 3-7% depending on the reactivity of the steel. Larger plants should have a weighbridge so you can request a weight ticket to confirm finished weight.

Traded price for zinc is currently high so expect to be paying more currently ,with a zinc surcharge being the usual way of increasing their return on the zinc element. If it helps Joseph Ash just advised me their surcharge is increasing from 14 -16% from 1st April ( don't think its an April fool joke sadly! )

Just had a quote back for 10 ton and works out at 430 + vat which is £60 a ton cheaper than wedge. That includes collection and del to site
