My gator is 18yrs old and has done a front wheel bearing and a tipper hose. That's it. It has done its fair share of drifting round sheep and doughnuts in the snow, fetching firewood and carting blocks to a building site. I can't fault it.
Is that in it previous life? How long have you had it, a couple of weeks

Do you find the steering vague?

Is it a RTV 1110?
Yes it is a bit.
Mines a 1110.
Gear selection is also very temperamental, but otherwise happy with it.
Only done 250 hours so far but worked hard pulling mobile polytunnels, and hauling out feed. Prefer to take the bike every time for stock work though.

We have a 2020 Polaris ranger diesel and it is brilliant . Only problem has been a broken rear anti roll bar . Dad got the blame for that as he had x24 20L cans off roundup in the back .🙈

Got one on demo, steering seems vague on the road.

Like the way you don‘t really have to use the brakes much, good for pottering around checking stock however I was trying to get a bunch of weaned lambs through a gateway and it lacked that little extra oomph.

Not fussed on doing much more than 25mph however it feels heavy which it is.

I just want something which has a chance of lasting a good few years and it seems a lump of a thing.

I could go and have a look at a Polaris however the idea of not having a belt drive and it’s maintenance issues seems attractive.

Hmm,decisions!

Their quite common to go apparently, did it go through the tyre? The newer ones have a different design I was told by a mechanic

How does it compare to a quad? I guess it’s better in the rain and easier to carry stuff in the back. Thought about one here put the price is eye watering.

I hardly use mine compared to the quads but when you have an average field size under 5acre I have A LOT of gates. Now if I go down the road or to fields which need basic checking we take the polaris 👍🏻 Safe with the children etc though which was the main point for buying it.

No comparison really.

The Kubota is closer to a Defender than a quad in size and weight.

This is part of the problem in having enough engineering in them to stay the course without being too heavy or expensive.

I will be replacing a Mule 4010 which has been relatively good however there doesn’t seem to be an obvious choice.

My feeling is the Kubota on paper should be more robust however I’m a little disappointed in a few refinements which are ‘not quite there’.

We have the kubota 900 at work. I used to hate it, slow, noisy, heavy, cumbersome. However, it’s really grown on me. What it isn’t is a substitute for a quad, trying to move sheep is comical, as they amble off totally unconcerned, whilst you’re jumping up and down on the go pedal. For everything else though, it’s a great tool, it’ll tow a ton, is bulletproof on steep wet or sticky ground, I’ve never had it stuck, and other than a relay and a service, it’s never had a spanner on it. Gear shift is crap but at the end of the day the thing keeps going. I’d have another one over the gators and Polaris that I’ve tried, even though they’re quicker.

Would agree with that, except we've had ours stuck a few times already. The 1110 is a bit heavier, which may not help.
As you say, a real workhorse, but I wouldn't want to be without the quad.

Can't blame your dad they are prone to breaking on the bend. On my 4th now but this one is the first solid one. I would say they should stand it on warranty even though your just out as it's been such a common thing
