Looks like Merkel is going after 16 years.

Could the new coalition government cause problems and the European Commision in for a tough time?

Germany has had coalition governments for the best part of twenty years. Likewise numerous other European countries. No major problems to report.
Ive no idea how you connect the fall of Europe or the European Commission, to such matters.

I don`t think we need to worry too much as long as the Greens don`t hold the balance of power. Though the Gerrys don`t have a good reputation for spotting extremes I can see no problem here.

I don't think the German greens are like our Greens, who have put social issues on a par with environmental ones.

Although they are (inexplicably) against nuclear power.
