You mean like in 1975 and 1978 when it was too dry for any planted crops to germinate on the southern counties chalk?

:giggle: :giggle:
I'm unable to remember that far back, the only really dry back end I can remember was around 2001/2002 trying to lift beet off the rock hard headlands in October and struggling to get any depth the roots were just snapping off, we changed fields and by the time we got back there a month or so later it was like paddy field 🤣

I remember that. Started with the opal wheel unit laden with 56lb weights. But it turned so wet we didn't finish it till March a few days before factory closure.

We've had nearly a quarter of our annual rainfall since the weather broke 10 or so days ago.The recent storm Francis has knocked over half a ton/ acre of our spring oats onto the floor along with a few trees.A merchant told me there are stories circulating of 100% losses in spring oats and some shedding of winter wheat crops that remain to be harvested.

Oh the joys of farming.Chin up everyone.

Starting to look like a 2012 harvest, No signs of ever getting started here:(

And the more southern members getting concerned that they still have “some” left to do...

Still have some rape to do, 90% of the wheat, all the spring barley that replaced rape, wheat and w barley due to last autumn plus 100 acres of beans. And so far we’ve got sod all straw baled

Getting concerned?? You might say that

Have you taken any land out of production from last autumn?
