Nothing up this end of the county. Did it rain last night as been in Hampshire all weekend, which definitely looked like it needed a drink .
Nowt here, but a skitter around 10.30, when I did the last feed on the cades.

Could do with some rain on the forecast, tho we had 13mm last week it will soon be gone, luckily fert was spread before the rain so fert should be where its neaded.

You must be on the good side of Stratford, we had about 0.3mm and haven’t had anything really for 5 weeks now.
yup less than 10mm in the last month, only just enough to wash the 2nd dose of n on

Big cracks opening up in the heavy ground here. Sand starting to struggle. Grass growth restricted. Beet, well, least said the better. Getting too dry.

We have had 2.5 mm since drilling the beet on 23rd March. And a lot of drying winds.

Had 9.5mm in 1/2hr this afternoon. It was a mixture of hail and rain, but still welcome as it will help beet to get going and freshen other crops up. The joys of farming on sand.

Nothing. A bit disappointing. Time to start a distracting project in the shed like fitting an air seeder to the front of the David Brown to eventually get some grass seed on. Close the door and ignore what’s happening outside for a bit on light land.

This will be one of the many reasons we drop beet this year. Its not weather hardy or climate change proof. Dry springs and wet autumns do not work for beet.

we've got moisture here in the soil , but i must admit a nice steady 1/2" would soon freshen things up and stuff would jump on quickly

Well - if you didn’t bale all your straw, compact the sh!t out of your fields by driving all over them, plough your ground & then power Harrow the sh!t out of it, maybe you could conserve some moisture in your soils & then a bit of a dry spell wouldn’t be such an issue ?
