Getting rid of Rabbits near houses...?

Evening,

Bloody rabbits are grazing my spring barley, they seem to be burrowing in the hedge and giving the barley by the hedge a hard time.

How do I get rid of the buggers?

Shooting or any other obvious ways of removal is a no on this occasion, the field is close to a village, and it would not take much to have the locals up in arms for killing cute little flopsy, legal and legitimate or not, it's not worth the hassle!

Suggestions anyone?

Rabbits! Try losing your guns for 12 months! Thank you, Mr Plod. I've got a plague here but doing good execution out the Landrover window with the .22 and sound moderator. Very satisfying to get them though.

I agree, it's maybe near a village but unless you haven't got clear space behind i.e. it's unsafe, I agree with @Dry Rot - hollow point subsonic .22 with a moderator, early morning or sunny evening when it's quiet. Unless it's your hobby, an air rifle is somewhat hard work - and you don't want them running round in circles squeaking :(
