Getting silly now

I’d love to see that “non-conformance” in writing…..that’s just petty.

I have a similar non conformance in writing from the NI Farm Quality Assurance body.

I took a shed down at Christmas. Took one load of scrap to the merchants. Had another load sitting on the trailer during the inspection two weeks ago and a pile waiting to be put on as a third load.

The inspector asked to see the scrap merchants receipt. I did not have it to hand (my wife had the envelop somewhere and the £277!) so got a non conformance to produce the receipt.

The actual wording of the non conformance is "Disused tin stored around yard". The rectification required is "Photographs of action taken or a receipt for materials purchased / work carried out".

It is down as a breach of rule 7.1 - Environmental Care - "The producer must adopt a positive attitude towards the countryside ... prevent pollution of the environment ... expect producers, as guardians of the countryside, to ensure that it is cared for".

As the customer drives down the road consuming their burger made with imported beef and wheat to throw the packaging out of the window!

I sat here for few moments perplexed which 'like' emoji to select. Love - as it such a hoot and ridiculous; Laughing face - as it is so stupid, if not for real, Wow, as in 'crumbs are you making this up?', Sadness, surely the world has not come to this state of affairs, or just Thanks, for the heads up! Think all apply in one way, shape or form. Hey ho.

I would send a photo of the receipt (assuming you've found it now) and put a formal complaint in as it sounds like a complete misrepresentation of the situation.

I'm not sure that RT have a formal appeals process.............. AFAIK there is also no independent route to go down which means you r business can be closed down effectively at the whim of an over zealous inspector.
An inspector was discussing this with me last year, he had failed a farmer for a clear breach of the rules. The farmer accepted this and held hands up as an error and had rectified the non conformance to the inspector's satisfaction. However RT refused to readmit him, saying insufficient evidence of rectification, when pressed wouldn't say what sufficient was. The inspector himself was embarrassed and angry. The whole thing becomes more and more farcical by the day.

storing and using scrap is good for the environment, its upcycling / good resource management.

time and time again it saves running up the road using fuel and time and big money to the ag store / machinery repairers/ steel stockists etc for fancy painted covered stickered little added value 'product's that travelled have way around the World and been packaged in plastic from fossil fuels or cardboard from trees that are cut down.

Stop your memberships , stop the rot.

are a farmers loads somehow reported to the rt if or wether they are tipped rejected or had a claim on them? Cos im getting a tad sick of supplying my customers with assured grain for which I gain no financial benefit at a cost to me and yet in the last 10 years have had not a single load rejected . I have had one load with a claim for bushel weight and another one with a moisture claim at 15.2%m interestingly both have come in the last few months on feed grain sold some £15 above the day of movement. thats life .
More importantly ive not had any claims or rejection for contamination rat/mouse s--- extraneous matter, mould, insects ,smell, over drying or anything else . I think this in court of law would go a long way to proving that grain/produce sold by us was of sound merchantable quality so why does the scheme not accept a record of my sales as proof that im producing a quality product instead of getting all excited about a scrap heap, painted trailer, bulb out or a sign not in place, paperwork not ticked etc etc because wether you do all the things they recquire still does not prove your grain is fit for sale its only on reception that this is tested

I had some fence posts and other stuff leant on rear external wall grain shed. The inspector said 1m access corridor was need around grain stores to check for rat infestations.

I agreed to tidy it up and we moved on, nothing written down on his clipboard no nonsense. because he acted in a human way, I promptly tidied the place up.
