Dad used to pick armfuls of stuff from the side of the road for the pigsread something the other day, saying nettles, soaked in water for a couple of days, is a good feed for pigs, never heard of that. But nettles are meant to be nutritious, high in iron as well.
they look well enough, grass or no grass,This heifer 30 months mid September . Doubt she’ll finish and toying with bulling her

She’s bulling weight now . I just decided to kill her and not breed from her but you can see what she’s got to try to put some condition on herif she has failed to reach target weight, in time, should you breed from her ?
and l don't know much about rare breeds, so just a question.
Nowhere near as bad as 2018 yetView attachment 1051811but it won't grow behind them to well
seems hit and miss round the country, 2018 we started feeding earlierWe've had 120mm less rain than the same point in 2018!
perhaps my management has improved thenWe’ve had 500mm less than 2018 so far 2018 was a wet spring and not a dry autumn either.
We had more rain in Jan 18 than we’ve had all year so far this year. Only Feb this year have we had more than 50mm and 35 of that fell in 4 hrs.perhaps my management has improved then
we have made more bales and had grass to feed for longer with about a sixth of the fert
from what I can remember we had a wet cold spring that change very quickly to very dry in 2018 and the grass never got going before it dried out, this year we had a very good growing spring
Well there’s a cheerful thought for the weekendLooking like another 2 weeks at least of hot and dry weather coming.
The little bit of rain over the last week has helped slightly.
Sheep are happy enough but finding some grass to wean the lambs on to could be a challenge!
I can’t see grow growing much more this year now tbh. Think it’s droughted too much to get going againVery little improvement here even though we had rain.
The fields I usually wean lambs on to are poor. I expected a lot more fresh growth by now.
I am surprised how slow the growth is too, here have been lucky enough to have 80 mm , its greened up with lush grass but seems to be slowing down, only a few inches high mind, soon goVery little improvement here even though we had rain.
