Bring back paraquat??

It never left and is still widely used in most parts of the world - and the UK banned it five years ago and now we are thinking of banning glyphosate. And diquat is now banned on wheat and might be completely banned in the UK

Reglone was never approved for wheat anyway, just feed barley & oats in cereals.

Bayer were asked in TFF a while abgo about reregistering glufosinate ammonium (Harvest) for UK use. The answer was "no plans" but the potential demand is pretty damn high if we lost glyphosate. Harvest could never compete with glyphosate but there would be no such competition if...

Canadian food inspection agency (CFIA) is expected to release their first set of results for glyphosate level testing soon. Lots of products expected to exceed maximum residue limits. Most importantly wheat products. I think the accompanying media reports will put a lot of pressure to scrutinize preharvest application. The public does not want to consume more glyphosate than the government defined limits (which they probably don't trust to be safe anyway).
Caught in the crossfire unfairly will be GMO, all uses of glyphosate, and all herbicides. Preharvest application apparently can't be trusted to keep residue levels low and could end up responsible for total bans.
