Good news! Although they are concerned about badly fitting masks causing aerosols of virus which isn't so good.

lets hope they find a solution to that (y)

Fortunately (?) I have my own, and have had for about 26/27 years. I thoroughly recommend them for anyone who snores a lot, it probably means you have sleep apnoea, and as I was once told "If you stop breathing it can be fatal". The doctor who said it wondered why I laughed.

I normally use a nose only mask, but have a nose and mouth one that was provided whilst I was in hospital for my heart operation.

Duck tape!
No need to shave either! Just replaced the tape every other day!
Please share photos, with sound, if you try this!! I find one week's growth is enough to break the seal.

Right, I am sure this is me being thick, but... if you use a 'nose only' mask, how can positive air pressure be maintained if the mouth is not closed? Not a problem when awake, but difficult to ensure if asleep.

I do not know how, but it is, or rather they are - PAP and closed mouth. Snoring loudly usually involves someone with an open mouth - resulting in a very dry throat when waking. When awake I tend to breathe through the mouth, and in a dentist's chair need to be kept more or less upright because I do not breathe very well at all when reclining or on my back. My throat closes. I have never had any problem, right from the first time I used one (in a hospital sleep test situation) with breathing through my nose and my mouth remaining fairly well closed. If I try, I can open my breathing channels so that the air enters my nose and comes out of my mouth, but it takes a positive effort to do so.

A fancy set up in hospital last year showed that I do lose some air through my mouth, hence the full face mask being supplied to me at a critical time. The technician tried several types whilst I was awaiting surgery. It is fine when it is hot, but any drop in temperature and condensation forms inside the mask. Most unpleasant, so I have used the nose only mask all winter. I might try the full face again when it becomes hot, but I find the much smaller nose mask more comfortable and easier to lie on either side (as well as my back) without dislodging the mask. Bedroom temperature needs to be kept up otherwise I have a nose cold enough that I wake up. There is air at ambient temperature being continuously blown at it.

As Ferrari are also doing similar, as well as the teams in Project Pitlane. Is high speed ventilator production going to be the new F1 season. :scratchhead:

Why weren’t Mercedes asked a month ago Anything technical surely they would be the first choice Ineos cycling team spends hours making helmets fit perfectly so a proper fitted mask would be a doodle for there design team

Because herd immunity was Dominic Cumming's preferred choice a month ago, so no need. :banghead:
