I suspect the devil will be in the detail, as usual. I expect most supermarkets will make a similar declaration on their ‘fresh’ produce, but cheaper imported stuff gets widely used by the food processing/catering industry, disappearing into ready meals. None of the retailers’ proud providence claims ever seem to cover that huge part of their product lines for some strange reason, but there’s no reason why they couldn’t stipulate such a requirement from their suppliers.
