Omnistar upgrade costs about £1200 IIRC which makes it worth a bit more, but I'd agree the price does seem rather high given a new unit has warranty etc.

IMO the upgrade is really only justified if going to RTK. The halfway house upgrade (i paid for it too!) was almost made redundant the day Rangepoint came out.

Trouble is the omnistar upgrade costs £1200+, sso does the RTK from omnistar, so you can be looking at £3k unlocks to get RTK.

Exactly. Plus the modem cost if you were going VRS RTK. Almost involves doubling your investment (and tripling annual sub) to gain a few more cm (or even mm!) pass-to-pass accuracy, but most importantly the repeatability if that is what is really desired.

Hence why 90% will happily stick to RTK and save ourselves the money.

EDIT: £2400 off the shelf from AS Comms, though I'd hazard a guess you might squeeze a deal out of them.

They want £4k for one like the OP however, which also strikes me as rather high.
