GPS - what level of accuracy needed...?

As has already been said, save all AB lines and wack a post in on the headland to mark the first one. You can buy a lot of posts for the price of rtk!
Thanks, this is what I was hoping. Not even sure RTK would work here in darkest Shropshire with rubbish mobile phone signal and no local RTK network...

So you just drive up to the post at the edge of the field and 'reset' the GPS each time you enter the field?

Yes, a bit like having a helipad if you will. "Land" the tractor on the same place each time, and then shift the AB lines onto your spot. It already has the spacings programmed into its mind, but it might think they are all 2' to the left due to satelline drift over time, so needs you to tell it that the lines should be from this point, not where it thinks they should be.

Is one point enough? If you just mark the A point of the AB line, will you be parallel ie does the drift only occur on one axis not both?

Yes, one point is enough. GPS only needs to know two things, we're it is now and the angle at which it's travelling, if you save the ab line it will know the angle at which it has to travel so all it needs to find out is where to start.
