Grade A burning about to get pulled.

if anyone is currently using grade a timber for heating under the RHI it sounds like it's about to get pulled.

From what I can gather any wood that's been 'used' falls into that bracket. I think this translates into only virgin off cuts now, if virgin offcuts are used to make a pallet then that pallet can't then be burnt.

You would say that!

I think like all these things it depends what's actually being burnt and the reason for doing so.

It does seem a little odd that genuine grade A can't be burnt but the same product in a different existence is still ok

The reason I say it is because most (not all) cant help themselves but to add huge amounts of grade B and then a chunk of grade c just for good measure which is done to increase their profits, but all they have done is totally and utterly kill the use of any recycled material in some power stations. I know of one power station out of my area which has now almost totally refuesed to take any more recycled wood because they were being delivered such sh1te that it was causing problems with their environmental permits. I have no sympathy for them to be honest

I quite agree. As is often the case the few ruin it for all.

I have recently tried a bit alongside straw and it's worked well, having samples sent away to be double checked though.

The thought is the industry should be able to self regulate but not sure how that will work out

If this is right then a few going to pretty pee'd off even if there's scrubbers to clean up emissions?
