Now that virtually every merchant offers a Pool, its become a very competitive environment, with operators trying to outperform each other even if they may have to 'subsidise' a poor result from other activities. Then they hide behind a base price, and add rather opaque quality/location adjustments, so no outsider can see the true result. I worry for the small guys who cant do this, and their result is what it is with no hiding place.
Or perhaps I'm too cynical and remember the time when Pools were only offered by the local co-ops.
( Some of the results in recent years have been reflected by graph- I recall seeing Gleadell results that was way higher than the entire marketing season - just when did they sell it to make that value?? )
Do you diarise your posts? Same post within a day of last years post. Come on then spill the beans, how have the grain pools you put grain into performed? Or are you just just throwing a sprat to catch a Mackeral for your own ends?
