I don't think the belt would take it. Mine sis taking a hammering with paper bedding going through it once a week.

Don't know what size stone you use, but my cousin uses a feeder bucket to fill his pan mixer. The type with the big slide door on the end for putting silage out.

Be difficult to regulate the flow of gravel though but like your thinking

Yes I see what you mean. If it was tipped up out of the grain chute it would be a bit more consistent? If you stop the conveyor the heap would just sit on it and block chute? Might have to make it swing so it sat level as you tip up.
A gravel trailer might be a good thing for a group to buy or hire out.

Only open the back door a certain distance demountable conveyer belt is all you would need nice n wide so dont need to travel to close to the trench.

I like the toe tip bucket with jcb brackets but I've never paid that for a bucket.
